Travel Tip Tuesday
PACKING
There is no better way to get you in the mood for your travels than packing! Many of us are just so excited that we throw a random array of clothes into our bag and job done. However there is definitely an art to packing of which your future, travelling self will thank you for! So here are our tips for packing for your travels:
Tip 1: Roll, don’t fold!
Rolling clothes rather than folding saves SO much space and allows you to pack much more so that for the next six months you have more than just six t-shirts to wear!
Tip 2: 3 pairs of shoes is enough!
No matter where you are going or what you are doing you don’t need more than 3 pairs of shoes! If visiting hot countries we would definitely recommend flip-flops to be one of your choices, whereas if you are going on more of an expedition holiday then a good pair of walking boots would be another good option.
Tip 3: Compartment bags are so good!
There is nothing worse than having to unpack your whole bag to find that one top that you are sure you packed and really want to wear. By dividing and packing your clothes up into smaller travel bags you can save so much time, space and washing money.
Tip 4: Liquids must be kept in a waterproof wash bag
There is nothing worse than unpacking your bag after a long day travelling to find all your clothes are soaked in body wash! So make sure you have an extra wash bag that can be your saving grace for when your toiletries decide to splash out.
Tip 5: Don’t fill the extra space!
You may find that you’ve packed everything you can think you might possibly need for your adventure but that you still have some space. Don’t be tempted to fill that space with extra tops, shorts or shoes. Instead we suggest you leave it for any souvenirs or items you might pick up on your travels. Not only will your mum be happy you got her a present but your back will thank you too for not having to carry those extra pair of shoes that you only wore once!
Tip 6: Pack one semi-smart outfit
The best bit about travelling is you never know what you will stumble into. Therefore to just be on the safe side make sure to pack one smart outfit (e.g. a dress, a shirt) so that you are able to say yes to any invitation or opportunity that presents itself to you!
