About Four Twenty South

Four Twenty South is comprised of six unique and characterful beachfront houses, stylish and simple, staffed with a personal chef and housekeeper on Kenya’s stunning south coast. Set in its own section of tropical garden, each house boasts natural privacy while benefiting from the security of being part of a single property. The beach houses have an uninterrupted view of the Indian Ocean and are a stone’s throw away from the beach. The turquoise lagoon is a vast natural spa and its warm, clear water is heavenly for swimming whether the tide is in or out. The dazzling sand is so fine and so white that you can walk on it barefoot at any time of day.

The houses range in size from two to five bedrooms. Each house has its own distinct floor plan, so all look and feel unique. In common, however, are large covered porches with generous outdoor patios where meals frequently happen and you're likely to loll about and doze during the heat of the day. Living rooms are outfitted with Swahili-inspired hardwood furnishings and plenty of cushioned seating. Wooden shutters are opened during the day to welcome in the natural light and breeze. The sandy lagoon is suitable for swimming at any time and is so secluded that you can find yourself the only one on it at certain times of the day. You are also within walking distance of the tourist facilities of Diani Beach. The property also has a gift shop, a library with a large variety of books for both children and adults as well as board games and cards. Good food is incredibly important to staff at Four Twenty South. Guests have their own personal chef specialising in coastal cuisine. Fresh seafood comes from an artisanal fishing landing site next door and you will see the canoes heading out to fish on the out-going tide. Seasonal fruits and vegetables are delivered by local suppliers on bicycles. You can choose your ingredients yourself or staff can offer the option of menus tailored to your preferences. There are also a variety of restaurants if you would like to eat out for lunch or dinner.

The beach and ocean are your playground. Take a boat ride to the reefs for some good snorkelling and diving. Kite-surfing is popular, and there are some well-equipped outfitters nearby. The coast is flanked by dense vegetation, home to birds galore and colobus monkeys. And immerse yourself in wildlife at Shimba Hills Game Park, a few minutes drive away.
