El Karama Lodge is situated on a private working ranch in the heart of Laikipia, a must-visit destination for those who want an air of exclusivity and a diverse Kenya safari experience far away from the crowds. Recognised as leaders in sustainable and responsible tourism, El Karama is owner-run and hosted by a superb team of Kenyans, many of whom helped to build the lodge. You will enjoy warm hospitality, guided nature walks and photographing wildlife from a rock hide. Guided game drives will give you an understanding of the working farm and reveal the area’s mammal species like lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, hippo, reticulated giraffe, rare Grevy’s zebra, the strange long-necked gerenuk, and much more.

El Karama’s beautiful main area - with a large fireplace, bar and cosy reading nook - overlooks the Ewaso Nyiro river and a natural salt lick – perfect for an armchair safari. Thatched dining areas around the large swimming pool offer comfortable options for lunches, while the spacious dining room offers a more intimate atmosphere with gorgeous river views.
